Legal Practitioners and Paralegal/Junior Legal Practitioners

Legal Practitioner – Family/Civil Law | Mount Isa | Full Time | Closes 18 November 2018

Our Mount Isa Office seeks a skilled Family/Civil Law advocate. This dedicated workplace has expanded by 20% in the past two years, including into remote communities such as Mornington Island, Doomadgee and Normanton with strong services in the youth jurisdiction. The opportunity is ideal for someone wishing to build on hearings experience, and work within a carefully rostered monthly court circuit. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive annual remote allowance to secure service continuity and community relationships to 30 June 2020.

Newcomers with less than 2 years PAE with sufficient experience in case work are welcome to apply if they have consistent advocacy outcomes to demonstrate at interview. An interest in developing skills in Child Protection matters will be well rewarded. Your commitment to social justice and the occasional support for your peers may also provide minor Criminal Law work opportunity – e.g. Duty Lawyer matters in Domestic Violence/Juvenile matters.

Our modest share-house accommodation is available to facilitate a prompt commencement but may not suit all candidates longer term.

Essential to our service is the Court Support Officer role. Each office has a CSO, providing a crucial link between our clients and the legal practitioner. You can create a career journey with ATSILS in any of our current vacant roles. Being a steady role model to community members is an ideal quality, as is an understanding of our clients’ right to equity in seeking justice. Our services are exclusively in Criminal Law for these roles. Whether you are applying in a medium or large-sized team, your application is really welcome.
