Prevention, Intervention & Community Legal Education Officer | Brisbane/Statewide | Full Time | Closes midnight Thursday 26th October 2017

Our Brisbane based role in Prevention, Intervention and Community Legal Education provides a direct opportunity to contribute to communities promoting access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to provide strategic impetus to an early intervention approach regarding law reform. We are offering a full-time role based in Brisbane with an expectation of both routine travel and flexible responsiveness to law reform opportunity.

Opportunity
Provide strategic advisory services directly to internal staff and external stakeholders regarding justice system reforms and access equity issues through the development of key submissions.
Exercise your discerning legal skills to research and develop solutions to complex justice system reform issues. You will be able to tackle both contemporary and historic approaches to reform of targeted issues including criminal law, mental health, family and child protection law.
Work closely within a leadership context with the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Legal Officer to ensure educational resources are designed, delivered and evaluated in Community Legal Education across Queensland.

Legal Practitioners – Family & Civil Law | Mt Isa | Full Time | Closes Midnight Sunday 29th Oct 2017

A skilled advocate is required. Capacity to work with a varied caseload, including circuit work to communities in The Gulf could occur within a few months of commencement. Newcomers with less than 2 years PAE with sufficient experience in advocacy and case work are welcome to apply if they have consistent Family Law outcomes to demonstrate at interview.

Your experience with Family Law casework and hopefully success with matters to hearings (Family, Domestic Violence, etc), plus Civil Law files will be highly regarded. An interest in developing skills in Child Protection matters will be well rewarded. Your commitment to social justice and the occasional suppport for your peers may also provide minor criminal law work – eg. Duty Lawyer matters in domestic violence/juvenile matters.

Interviews will be held on or around 15th November in Brisbane and in Mt Isa.

Our Townsville Office seeks a skilled Legal Practitioner in Criminal Law with the possibility of expanding into Circuit work attending at Bowen, Ayr and Palm Island.. We will interview mid November and look to candidates who can commence ASAP or at least by Monday 8th January.
